Survey blocks
Build multi-question surveys: the seven question types, required questions, and a welcome message.
A survey is a sequence of questions in one block. Use it for screeners, background questions, or post-test impressions — anywhere several related questions belong together.
Question types
| Type | Tester sees | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Short Text | A single-line text field | Names, one-word answers, "what would you call this?" |
| Long Text | A multi-line text area | Open feedback, descriptions, stories |
| Single Choice | Radio options | Pick-one questions, screeners |
| Multiple Choice | Checkbox options | "Select all that apply" |
| Rating Scale | A star rating (Max rating 3, 5, 7, or 10; default 5) | Satisfaction, ease-of-use scores |
| Likert Scale | Agreement scale with labeled endpoints you define | Attitude statements |
| Yes / No | Two buttons | Binary facts, gate questions |
Choose Add question in the block to add one. Each question has a Question type, its Question text, optional Helper text shown underneath, and a Required checkbox (on by default) — testers can't move on from a required question without answering. Choice questions define their Answer Options (at least two); rating scales set the Max rating; Likert questions set a Low label and High label.
Intro and thank-you text
A survey can open with its own Welcome Message, shown before its first question. It's per-block — the study-level welcome and thank-you screens still wrap the whole session.
Writing questions that work
- One thing per question. "Was it fast and easy?" is two questions wearing one question's clothes.
- Make a question required only if a blank answer would invalidate the session — every required field costs completion rate.
- Put open text after choice questions on the same topic; the options prime vocabulary and make free-text answers more comparable.
Validation
Launch is refused while the block has no title, no questions, or a question with no text. See configuration errors.
